What is TWIC?

TWIC is a common identification credential for all personnel requiring unescorted access to secure areas of MTSA-regulated facilities and vessels, and all mariners holdeing Coast Guard-issued credentials. TSA will issues workers a tamper-resistant “Smart Card” containing the worker’s biometric (fingerprint template) to allow for a positive link between the card itself and the individual.

Who needs a TWIC?

Company, vessel, and facility security officers and personnel responsible for security duties are required to obtain a TWIC. Individuals who frequently access secure areas in the course of their employment will also need to obtain a TWIC.

How do I pre-enroll?

Call 1 (866) 347-8942 or visit www.tsa.gov/twic.

How much will a TWIC cost?

The TWIC will cost $129.75 and is payable by Credit Card, Money Order or Certified Check.

Reimbursement for Purchase of TWIC Card

The New Orleans Electrical Substance Abuse and Security Plan will reimburse eligible individuals for the cost of a “first time” new TWIC card in the amount of $129.75. If your TWIC card is reaching its expiration date, the plan will reimburse the $60.00 fee for the three year extended expiration date TWIC card. To be reimbursed for the purchase of TWIC card, you must be working for a contributing employer to the Substance Abuse and Security Plan, bring in TWIC card, copy of receipt for purchasing card and copy of check stub. Bring to the Fund office and complete a claim form. If you have questions regarding reimbursement, please call the Fund office at (504) 837-9812.

*Please go to www.tsa.gov/twic or call 1(866) 34-8942 for a full listing of required identity documentation and locations
