Apprenticeship Application Requirements

Applications are accepted Monday- Friday at 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Documents needed:

ALL DOCUMENTS MUST BE PRESENT IN ORDER TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION; NO EXCEPTIONS.

  1. A VALID Driver's License ( State ID or any other form of ID will NOT be accepted.)
  2. Social Security Card
  3. Birth Certificate **
  4. High School diploma or higher (associates degree) or GED Diploma **
  5. DD-214 form if you were in the Military
  6. $25.00 money order to pay for application fees
    (Money Order Only - NO cash)

** All documents must be in English or a certified English Translation.

Once you have completed the application (which includes all required documents), you will, within a few weeks receive a letter with your Aptitude testing date. The aptitude test is given every 5-6 weeks. A passing score is "3" or higher on the test.

It is your responsibility to check on your application status. If you do not receive a letter in the mail within 3 to 4 weeks of completing your application for the aptitude test, please contact the Apprenticeship Office at (504) 835-9899.

Electric Prep provides online courses, specifically crafted for applicants seeking to enter the IBEW/NECA electrical apprenticeship. Our courses are designed to better prepare you for entrance into a challenging career in the electrical construction industry. It provides online assistance to help you prepare for the interview, and sharpen your math and reading skills. Math and reading courses cost $49.95 each.
